About Jean Leon

Jean-Leon Gerome, born on 11 May 1824 was a renowned French painter in the style currently known as academicism. He trained under the artist Paul Delaroche in Paris as an adolescent. In 1843, when Delaroche covered his studio to move to Italy. the youthful Gerome came to study the locales of antiquated Rome.
His artworks were so generally recreated that he was “ostensibly the world’s most well-known living artist by 1880.
