Lawrence Alma-Tadema was a Dutch painter of extraordinary British denizenship. Born in Dronryp, the Netherlands, and prepared in the Royal Academy of Antwerp, Belgium, he moved to England in 1870 and spent a mind-blowing remainder there. A traditional subject painter, he got commended for his portrayals of this extravagance and debauchery of the Roman Empire, with languorous figures set in astonishing marbled interiors or against a scene of magnificent blue Mediterranean Sea and skies.
