If you too aspire to make one for personal or commercial purposes, know how it is done in this easy 6 step guide to poster making.

6 steps to design a catchy travel poster

Step1: Pre production process

The first step to making anything starts with brainstorming over the design ideas. The same goes with the posters. Write a few things on paper in terms of specifications such as objectives, style, theme, message and the target audience for which the poster will be made.

If you are making a travel poster to advertise your tourism brand or anything, make sure to align them with your brand personality and your marketing goals.

Step 2: Create an outline

Next, you need to draft an outline of your poster design to ensure any information you’re presenting is clear, clean, and concise. An outline will present a rough idea of the placement of text and images to see if the outcome looks attractive or ont.It may seem like a good idea to place short and crisp information in a travel poster and laet the highlight be the place or building which is being advertised.

Step 3: Choose your color theme

Your design’s color scheme is probably the first thing your audience will notice about your poster, so it’s important to get it right. While the color of the image will be predefined, you can experiment with the text color selection. Make sure the text color stands out from the image in the background or place next to it. A lighter shade of text is likely to merge with the scenery or building, making the attractive quotes ineffective.

Step 4: Add your Images

Dramatic and relevant photographs have been a staple of travel poster design for decades. The right image  in terms of resolution and colors, can give your design a huge boost in visual appeal, conveying much more than the regular text. Check the image size and resolution to make sure the pixels don’t distort when expanded on large poster size or flexes.

Step 5: Add your text

Now it’s time to take your headline and details from your outline and insert them into your poster. Make your text attractive in terms of font, color, typography, size and the style used. You can choose decorative typefaces, or highlight them in bold or italic to allow your headlines to grab the reader’s attention. Do not put too many different forms in a single poster. Also the basic information should be in a clear font. The position of your text will also define how appealing it can make your poster look.

Step 6: Highlight your CTA (call to action)

If your poster has a call to action, make sure it’s clear and visible to the reader.

For eg: A tourism provider will want the clients to book a package with him, so his CTA on the poster will be :”Hurry, book now to avail great offers”.If places it in a far corner with a small font,he will miss the opportunity of revert from his viewers. The whole point of a CTA is to get people to take action by drawing their attention to it, but make sure that it doesn't overshadow your headline.
