About Luxury Wall Decor: Dessine Art Hanging Plates

And the best part?  even if you’re shopping on a budget, we have single wall plates under ₹1,700 and metal collections starting at ₹2,799

What are decorative hanging plates, and why are they so in trend?

So these decorative hanging plates are designed for display on a wall, not for serving food; just like tapestries are not sheets for sleeping, they are a form of decorative art with exquisite artwork printed or painted on them and are frequently used by interior designers and home decor enthusiasts who don’t compromise on aesthetics, to add patterns, textures, voice, colour, and contrast to a wall without using large, expensive canvas frames that are square or rectangular in shape. In contrast, these decor plates are round, breaking the straight lines of doors, windows, and furniture and disrupting monotony.

Today, art plates do 3 jobs in an Indian home, and they’re in trend:

1. Tell a story: like the Life of Krishna set, which walks the viewer through 5 scenes.

2. Mark an occasion: a housewarming or anniversary set becomes a permanent memory on the wall.

3. Fix a boring wall: a ₹3,499 plate set for hanging covers roughly 31" x 25" of wall, which is the footprint of a large framed print at a fraction of the price.

Not sure how many plates your wall actually needs?

 Here's the simple breakdown.

Start with 3. Perfect for smaller spots — a console table, your bedside wall, or that narrow hallway you've been ignoring. Starting at ₹2,799 only .

Got a bigger surface? Go with a set of 5. This is your sofa wall, your dining area, or that staircase that could use some personality. Starting at ₹3,499.

Going all in? Pick the 7-piece set. Built for full feature walls or commercial spaces that need to make a statement like The Moroccan Gallery set runs ₹12,100.

What is the meaning behind art plates?

What turns an object into a decorative art piece is the art on it. Each art plate by Dessine Art has intention and meaning behind it: a Pichwai cow stands for Lord Krishna and represents divinity and abundance; a Moroccan mandala represents balance; the Mughal plates represent history and heritage; and a mandala on a plate represents wholeness, so these hanging plates highlight who you are, who lives in the space where these decor pieces are hung and what your home values

What styles of wall art plates are popular in India?

The 6 most popular wall art plate styles in India are Madhubani, Pichwai, Gond, Blue Pottery, Moroccan and Botanical, followed by Mughal floral and monochrome modern designs.

1- Madhubani, which originates from Mithila, Bihar, is famous for beautiful Peacocks, fish, and double-line borders, making them perfect for Living rooms. Check Madhubani Peacock (set of 3 or set of 5)

2 - Pichwai from Nathdwara, Rajasthan known for Cows, lotus, Shrinathji motifs, perfect for a Pooja room or your home entrance, check Sacred Cow Pichwai (5)

3 - Gond from Madhya Pradesh, India famous for its Dotted trees and animals, perfect for a kids' room or study

4 - Blue Pottery with Cobalt-blue florals on white, ideal for Dining rooms check  Indigo Bloom Blue Pottery (5) from our collection

Which hanging plates suit each room?

Your space is an extension of you; here are some suggestions that might inspire your space

Living room — it's the space where you spend most of the time, chill with your family or friends, and this space deserves something exquisite, so folk art works best here; it’s bold yet not so loud, so if you hang a set of 5 or 7 above your sofa, centred, about 8–10 inches above the backrest, as the Madhubani Peacock, Moroccan Gallery, and Life of Krishna sets on your living room wall, they instantly catch attention yet give a balanced and elegant feel.

The bedroom is where you come back after a long day to relax and calm down, so this is where botanicals shine. A beautiful, pastel-coloured, calming set of 3 above the headboard or on the wall facing the bed does the trick and keeps the room feeling restful.

Dining room — blue is your best friend; you can't go wrong with blues, the cobalt blue pottery art plates set of 5 hung behind the dining chairs or above a sideboard. The Blue Pottery and Imperial Moroccan Blue sets pick up the colours of your crockery and tie the whole table together.

Entrance or pooja room — the first thing someone sees when they enter your place. A Pichwai or Life of Krishna set at the entrance does double duty of welcoming the guests and blessing the home.

Offices, cafés, and commercial spaces — think bigger. Sets of 7 (or a few sets of 5) work great on reception walls, in conference rooms, and on café feature walls. Interior designers and office managers can order in bulk through Dessine Art.

So what's your vibe — modern abstract or traditional Indian folk art?

Quick cheat code: look at your furniture. Got wooden furniture, brass accents, or warm-toned walls? Choose Folk or traditional art pieces, or even Moroccan designs, as it adds that cosy, layered warmth and just belongs in that setting. Rocking grey, white, or black-and-wood interiors? Go modern or monochrome. The Monochrome Series and the Modern Heritage set add contrast without making the room feel busy.

What to choose: metal or ceramic wall plates?

Honestly, our ceramic wall plates are premium and add luxury to any space and the metal decor plates are as beautiful as ceramics, but if you’re renting, get the metal ones. They're light enough for those adhesive hooks — no drilling, no drama with your landlord when you move out. Your deposit stays safe. Got kids or pets running around? Also metal. Because someone WILL bump into that wall eventually.

How do you safely hang plates on a wall?

There are 4 options: you may drill the wall; our plates come with a pre-fitted hook; after drilling nails into the wall, hanging safely won't be an issue; spring-style plate hangers or wall mounts for plates; or adhesive plate hooks, which guarantee weight tolerance up to 1 Kg,  if you want that clean, floating look — both hold a standard 7.5" or 10" plate just fine.

Follow these easy steps to get it right

  1. Trace each plate on kraft paper and cut out the shapes

  2. Tape the templates to the wall and shuffle them around until the layout feels right

  3. Level each row — a spirit level or your phone's level app works.

  4. Attach the hanger or disc to the back of each plate (wipe it clean and dry first)

  5. Mark the hook point through the template, fix your nail or hook, and hang

  6. Keep the centre of the arrangement at 57–60 inches from the floor — that's standard gallery eye level — and leave 2–3 inches between plates.
